Afternoon tea

Afternoon tea is a very English tradition and is a great way to celebrate a special occasion. Treat family or friends to delicate finger sandwiches, moreish cakes, freshly baked scones served with preserves and whipped cream and a pot of refreshing tea…or perhaps a glass of something stronger. If the sun is shining, we can serve your afternoon tea on the terrace with stunning views over Lake Windermere.

Festivities

The cosy and inviting atmosphere at Merewood is even more special at Christmas and New Year when the roaring log fires are lit, the twinkling fairy lights are wrapped around the Christmas tree and the pure white snow crunches underfoot. Christmas in the Lake District

Roaring log fires, twinkling christmas tree lights, mulled wine and roast turkey...what else would you ask Santa for this year?

Why not treat yourself, your family, and your friends to a magical Christmas experience in a beautiful old country house, overlooking Lake Windermere and surrounded by snow capped mountains. Christmas at Merewood is a very special event. From Christmas Eve until December 27th, you will step into a winter wonderland of decadent food and drink, festive entertainment and Lakeland walks through the sparkling snow.

Non-residents are welcome to join us for Christmas Day lunch at £95 per person.

New year in the Lake District

Bring in the new year in style with a short yet very special break at Merewood Country House Hotel in the heart of the Lake District, overlooking Lake Windermere.

If you tend to feel a bit blue that Christmas is over then don’t worry…Merewood’s special New Year package is sure to bring a bit of sparkle back into your festive season. From December 30th to New Year’s Day you will be treated to a scenic lake cruise, a five course Hogmanay dinner, a New Year’s Eve dance with live band and plenty of champagne! New Year's Day starts with our famous five-course Victorian breakfast which will give you a good reason to dust off your walking boots and head out for a walk in the Lake District winter wonderland.
